The computer «Byte» was produced in the first half of the 1990s Brest Electromechanical Plant, which in turn is the parent company in Brest Production Association of Computer Technology.

Development of a computer «Byte» occurred in the late 1980s, the most active phase of development took place in 1989. The first copies of the computer appeared at the end of 1989, when it went on sale at a price of about 1,000 Soviet rubles. It is known fact about the sales of «Byte» in December 1989. In what year was issued «Byte» I could not determine exactly, but I saw copies, dated 1995 year. Most new computer, I′ve seen, has a serial number 63635 and released in December 1995. In accordance with manufacturer site the «Byte» computer was developed throughout 1989 and went into production in 1990.

In spring 1996, «Bytes» actively sold. At that time I was often in Grodno in the store «Melodiya», which sold «Bytes». People stood in line to buy this computer.
